When you need that hard to find item or just extra convenience, Amazon is a great place to grab your goods.  One thing that I swear by is Amazon’s Subscribe & Save Program!  I talk about this program with my friends and I’m amazed at how many people aren’t aware of it!  Well let me tell you…. it is AWE~SOME!  I mean, who likes going to the grocery store to pile toilet paper, paper towels, and diapers on top of all your other groceries.  With 3 kids I don’t have the space in my grocery cart to do that.  With the Subscribe & Save Program, I put my household goods on a delivery chart and they come right to my front door step!  Some of the things I have on auto-ship are diapers and wipes (which are 20% off with Amazon Family), laundry detergent, dish soap, toothpaste, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, paper towels, some of my Japanese green tea (yes, addicted after living in Japan for some time), and some other random things like hand soap for the bathrooms.

How It Works

If you already have an Amazon account, you simply login and find the Subscribe & Save Store.  From there you can view what is eligible for auto-ship and set your own schedule.  Diapers I have coming monthly, where a big pack of paper towels I have delivered every 3 months.  The great thing is that I never find we run out of something because the preset schedule makes sure things are delivered when needed.  And when it comes to savings, when you have a minimum of 5 items shipped at once, they knock off 15% of your total (20% off baby items)!!!  I’ve compared stores like Wal-Mart and stores where you buy in bulk, and I’ve always had luck finding better deals on Amazon.  Here’s what I have coming in the next couple of days.

What’s The Catch?

Honestly I haven’t really found a catch!  The only downside is that some months I may only NEED 3 items and I end up having to add a couple more items to my shipment so I get the entire 15% off my order.  Other than that, the program is very flexible in that you can skip your shipment all together, change the delivery date, or move something you need to a closer delivery date.

For someone like me who hates the act of going to the grocery store to begin with, this has really saved me a lot of time and money.  I mean have you ever thought about how silly it is?!  You walk in with your cart, you have to put everything in your cart, you have to take it all out again to check out, then you put it all back in, and then you take it all out to put in your car, then you have to take it all out when you get home, and then you have to put it all away!  That’s like 6 steps versus having stuff shipped straight to your door but that’s just me!

Back To The Point

If you already have an Amazon Prime account ($99/year) which includes two-day free shipping, video and music streaming, as well as Kindle downloads, the Subscribe & Save Program is available as well.  Look up everyday items that you already buy and see whether they are eligible for subscribe & save or whether there is a comparable item.  I’ve already spent time comparing and I would say 9 out of 10 times I can get my items cheaper from Amazon!  If you don’t already have an Amazon Prime account or Amazon Family account, click the banner below to receive a 30-day free trial.  Just be sure to cancel it in time if you are not a fan of the program!  Happy shopping & saving!
